Hi everyone. I’m new here, and I wanted to share my story because I’m hoping to connect with people who have experienced something similar and maybe get some advice.
I was with someone I deeply cared about. We had been together for months, and during that time we built a strong connection. We spent time with each other’s families, shared memories, talked about our future, and I truly believed we were both trying to make things work. I loved him, and my intentions were always genuine.Over time, we started having struggles with communication. There were moments where I felt like I was asking for the bare minimum: consistency, reassurance, and having open conversations when something was wrong. I tried to express how I felt because I didn’t want resentment to build, and I wanted us to grow together.
Then everything changed. Around the middle of July, after we had been having a difficult time, he told me he needed time to think. I respected that and tried to give him space, but days started passing with little to no communication. I went from talking to him every day and having him be a part of my routine, to suddenly feeling like I was left in the dark.
The hardest part wasn’t just the distance. It was not knowing what was happening. I didn’t know if he was overwhelmed, if he needed space, if he was struggling, or if he had already made a decision. I tried reaching out because I cared and wanted to understand, but eventually I realized I couldn’t keep trying to get answers from someone who wasn’t willing to communicate with me.
I ended up going no contact because I knew I needed to protect my own heart. I removed our location sharing, blocked him, and decided to stop chasing for a response. Even though I made that choice, it hasn’t been easy. I still miss him. I still think about him. I still wonder if he misses me too or if he ever plans to come back and talk.
Part of me hopes that one day we can have a mature conversation and get clarity, because I don’t feel like things were truly resolved. But another part of me knows I have to focus on myself and accept that I can’t force someone to communicate or choose me. I’m trying to learn that loving someone doesn’t mean abandoning yourself, and that sometimes giving someone space also means giving yourself the chance to heal. For anyone who has been through something like this:
How did you cope with loving someone who stopped communicating? Did you ever get answers or closure, or did you have to create your own closure? How did you stop yourself from reaching out when you still had hope?

before he asked for space, was he actually trying to work through the communication issues with you, or had he already started pulling away for a while?
he’s been pulling away for a while saying he’s busy and not answering my calls
i went through almost the exact same thing, every day we were talking and then suddenly... silence. i kept thinking if i just waited a little longer i'd get an explanation, but i never did. that quiet honestly hurt more than the breakup itself
it’s crazy too bc it’s the silence that hurt bc we don’t deserve that maybe I won’t get an explanation but just by their action that’s the clarity I need
im still trying to do this everyday currently we were together 8 years and idk you just gotta push through it and if its meant to be he will reach out to u. if by then thats what u still want. for me I just dont want to feel any thing ever again for my ex and I can not wait til that day comes and it will. I have loved abd loss before and those people are just distant memories stuff I can even joke about now but at the time didn't know if I could survive the pain of the heartbreak. this too shall pass. Just know your doing the right thing and im here to talk if you ever need to just vent
Thank you so much and for sharing your story it brought me so much comfort and tears knowing I’m not alone
I've been through the same thing. During the time of no contact I concentrated on myself instead of wondering what he was thinking or why he was doing what he was doing. It helped me create my own closure. I focused on my own behaviours during the relationship - how I abandoned myself for him, ways my anxious attachment came through. I actually got to the main cause of my anxious attachment and was able to heal that. By focusing on myself I didnt feel the need to reach out, because I knew I deserved better even though I still loved him with all my heart
Sometimes I wonder what’s he’s thinking or doing as well and I have really bad anxious attachment to the point it’s hard to eat or sleep. Thank you so much for your advice I’ll keep that in mind to put myself first and when I do that I can find peace and happiness
no closure is also a closure
Hi, im sorry you're going through this. I myself have been dealing with the same thing, it's been 2 days of no contact with my person and I miss him deeply.
I try not to think about him but I cant cause I often wonder if he's ok etc. Everytime I think about reaching out I remember if he wanted to talk to me he'd reach out and since he hasn't its because he doesn't want to.
I know it hurts but one day at a time, this too shall pass. Sending you hugs 🫂
I'm going threw almost the same thing except he said he was going to a buddy's he be back and that's been five days ago! I been with mine for four years
there’s never a closure bro stop right here in the hope of closure you ll destroy urself
