does anyone else hear a love song and automatically think about their ex and the new person they’re with/like? i also think “oh that’s so them” but i don’t mean to, and it doesn’t feel good at all. it’s kinda gut wrenching but that’s just what my brain does

Do you know what I started to do? Instead of thinking of him during those songs, I pretended I was singing those songs to myself. It made me so happy to have thoughts of self love
my brain was filling in blanks, not showing me reality. it took a while, but those songs slowly became just songs again.
I haven't listened to any music in days .
i'm curious, is it every love song that does this, or are there a few that were "your songs" together?
it’s mainly just any love song, even ones i’ve never heard before. it floods my mind with scenarios of them just being together, it’s weird. maybe some that were ours here and there, but it’s any song in general.
I feel this omg. So many small things can grow to hold so much significance when we're in a close, intimate partnership with someone else. For me, even a phrase from and inside joke or the name of a movie sends the pain flooding back. I begin to wonder if somebody new could ever have something special like that with them. It's unbearable
that’s crazy, i didn’t know that other people felt the same. and i think you’re absolutely right, the pain is excruciating especially when you have done so much with this person, you just mentally cannot process them ever being with someone else other than you, it literally feels like the end of the world. i’m 100% with you.
i used to hear a random song in the grocery store and my brain would instantly build this whole picture of my ex with someone else. it made my stomach drop every single time
i wonder why this happens, it’s the worst feeling
