My ex and I were together for almost 2.5 years and we were each other's first serious relationship.
There was no cheating abuse lying or betrayal. We truly loved each other but over time the relationship slowly broke down because of repeated conflicts and poor communication.
Whenever we argued I needed time to calm down before talking things through because I knew I'd say things I didn't mean in the heat of the moment. She preferred resolving everything immediately. We actually made a lot of progress over time. We started doing weekly relationship check-ins I got much better at telling her when I needed space instead of shutting down and our communication improved.
Then things became very stressful at home for me. I never fully opened up because I didn't want it to sound like an excuse. At the same time I quietly started feeling like I wasn't a priority anymore because she was spending much more time with her friends. Instead of talking about it I kept those feelings to myself.
Eventually she kept asking what was wrong and after being pushed several times I completely broke down emotionally and said things I deeply regret. She cried and we never really resolved it because my birthday was only a few days away and she didn't want to ruin it. After our exams we argued again and out of frustration I said maybe we should just break up. I regretted saying it almost immediately.
The next morning I apologized took full responsibility begged for another chance and told her I wanted to work through everything together.
She told me she'd lost hope no longer believed we were compatible couldn't see a future with me and asked me to let her go if I truly loved her.
What made it even harder was that she's very firm once she makes a decision. She's also extremely close to her older sister. I later found out her sister had told her that if she ever got back with me she'd have to choose between me and her family. Knowing how close they are I honestly don't think she would ever go against them and I've often wondered whether there was any real chance after that.
The breakup completely shattered me. I've had multiple anxiety attacks since then and I'm already in therapy working on myself because I know I need to regardless of whether this relationship ever has another chance.
About six weeks after the breakup I sent one simple message asking how she was doing. She never even opened it and I haven't contacted her since.
It's now been around three months.
I'm not asking anyone to predict what will happen. I know nobody can.
I'm just wondering if anyone has seen relationships like this recover. I don't mean breakups caused by distance or temporary circumstances. I mean situations where one person was completely certain said they'd lost hope rejected apologies family became involved and months of silence followed.
Have you ever seen something like that turn around or is this usually the point where it's truly over?

its over. All you can do is learn from what went right and what went wrong and do better in your next relationship.
I’m pretty sure it’s over. Unless she reaches out first I’d try to move on
I’d say you have a 10% chance honestly. The fact she didn’t even read your hello text is a very bad sign.
I spent 4 years with my ex I put my hands up for every mistake I made.. I spent years trying to fix things as bad as it sounds it’s probably over it doesn’t get easier quick.. but keep your head up brother
