He probably had an avoidant attachment style. The closer we got, the more he pulled away, and our communication became sporadic at best. I ended up feeling just angry and sad. He kept saying he wanted to change, that he didn't even know why it was happening, and that it was complicated. He said that if I weren't such a great girl, he wouldn't be messaging me at all.
I guess I was pushing him too hard because I just wanted at least a little bit of communication. But he had his own life and was enjoying his weekend at a festival. After it ended, he posted an Instagram story thanking everyone for a great weekend, followed by another story where he tagged his new female friend.
Why did he give more time and effort to people from a single weekend than to me? He couldn't even send me a simple message reassuring me that he was thinking of me. At that point, I would have been happy with anything—literally any text... but I got nothing.

i used to think i was asking for too much when all i wanted was a little consistency.
when you look back now, do you think you were really pushing him too hard, or were you asking for something he simply wasn’t willing to give?
I feel this pain, this was me and my ex, I endured so much pain hoping he would stop pushing me away especially whenever things got real. In the end, he left even though we still love each other, but I refuse to fight for a love if he didnt want to stay.
Did he still try to contact you after you said you had enough?
@GlitchTap140 we dont contact each other anymore, he did for a while because he still wanted me in his life, but I need to protect my heart and move on. In his last message he did say he knew he was being selfish for trying to push a friendship. I did try to be friends with him, but I struggled knowing I couldn't be his friend after sharing such closeness and intimacy with him. So I ended that
@DreamyWay697 also where you said he tagged his female friend after a weekend hit me hard. He always gave randoms more love and care than he ever gave me, he would even share deep stories with them while telling me white lies of the situation.
that silence hurt like rejection every single time. i kept wondering why strangers could get the easy, happy version of my ex while i was begging for the smallest bit of effort.
yep, exactly...
By that point, I was literally begging for any contact... When he posted an IG story, I replied with messages like, "Ooh, so you didn't lose your phone, and it actually works after all..." I just ended up humiliating myself, and he still didn't respond.
