i broke up with my girlfriend
we’d been fighting for almost two months because there was a huge gap in the emotional and physical effort between us. i had already tried talking about it three times hoping things would change.
today she texted me “so are we done?” i think she expected me to reassure her or take it back but this time i said yes.
she was surprised and tried to fix things. she spent almost half an hour trying to reach me but i couldn’t bring myself to answer. i knew hearing her cry would completely break me.
eventually she stopped trying and texted me “we’re done.”
i know i’m the one who said yes but fuck it hurts so much.
i loved her so deeply. honestly i don’t even know how to put it into words.

i know that silence after she stopped calling must've felt brutal. i think i would've done the same in your place, because sometimes hearing their voice when you're already breaking makes it impossible to stand by the decision you made.
I would've said pick a side and stick to it, but you already did so work on letting it go
when you said yes, did part of you still hope she'd fight for you, or did you already know you couldn't keep doing this?
i was the one who finally said “we're done” after months of trying, then cried like i'd been blindsided when it actually became real. loving someone deeply doesn't make leaving hurt any less.
you made the right decision. you gave her time and space to make the change and nothing happened. Be proud of holding your standards as much as it hurts right now
