I think I started to hate you today.
Not because you left,
not because our forever ended
before it ever had the chance to begin,
but because of the person
you chose to become
when the truth threatened your reflection.
We were engaged.
We spoke of a future
as though it were already waiting for us.
And when everything collapsed,
you went home
and told them I was the one who walked away.
that I was impossible to satisfy,
that somehow, after everything,
you were the one who had been hurt.
And they believed you.
Everyone had a place in your version of the story
except me.
No one stood on my side
because you handed them a story
where you were still the good man
and I was simply the woman
who could never be happy.
How convenient.
What disgusts me most
is not even that you betrayed me.
It is how desperately
you protected yourself from the word betrayal.
How you hid behind excuses,
behind anger,
behind wounded pride,
as though refusing to confess
could somehow make the truth disappear.
You were terrified of losing
the image you had built of yourself.
The shy one.
The gentle one.
The kind one.
The good man.
Maybe that is why you fought me so hard.
Because admitting what you had done
would mean looking into the mirror
without that mask.
And perhaps losing me
was easier
than losing the person
you wanted everyone to believe you were.
That is what breaks my heart differently now.
For so long,
I thought your softness meant goodness.
I thought your shyness meant sincerity.
I thought kindness lived quietly inside you.
Now I wonder
how much of it was real
and how much was simply a costume
that survived only
as long as nobody questioned you.
I have had heartbreak before.
But never have I left someone
and felt this profoundly disappointed
in who they turned out to be.
I did not only lose the man I loved.
I lost my belief
in the man I thought I knew.
And maybe that is why,
on Day 42,
my grief finally learned another language.
It stopped saying,
I miss you.
And quietly, bitterly,
it began to say
I cannot believe
I once wanted forever
with you.

reaching the point where “i miss him” slowly turned into “i don't recognize him anymore.” honestly, that shift hurt like hell, but it also helped me stop chasing an apology i knew i might never get.
THIS!! So relatable~ I am grieving of the fact that the “kind” man that I know will never apologize to me
when you think about him now, do you miss who he actually was, or the man you believed he was?
I am grieving for the man who I believe he was. tbh, it was good 90% and 10% was so bad and suddenly I saw so many toxic behavior.
i've had an ex rewrite our whole relationship after we ended, and watching people believe his version made me feel like i was grieving the relationship and my own reality at the same time
I exactly know how it feels. So, I wrote everything down and consulted with my psychologist ^^ Sometimes, both of person can view it differently or when we dated someone with emotional immaturity, they don’t like to be a villain since being “good” is what they believe
