After 52 days of no contact, I finally broke it.
I reached out because there was something important he needed to know. I honestly didn't know if he would respond, but he did.
And somehow, we ended up having a completely normal conversation.
No arguing. No talking about the past. No asking about his relationship. No emotional paragraphs. Just two people talking and joking like normal.
And honestly? I surprised myself.
I thought talking to him again would bring back all those feelings and make me lose the progress I'd made. But I was actually okay. I was calm, respectful, and mature about it.
I realized I don't necessarily need to completely erase someone from my life just because the relationship ended. I can let someone live their life without poking into it, and if they ever reach out, I can have a casual conversation without expecting anything from it.
I'm still learning what letting go looks like for me. Maybe it's not always complete silence. Maybe sometimes it's simply being able to talk to someone without needing anything from them.
Have you ever broken no contact and realized you were actually okay talking to them?

honestly that first normal conversation messed with my head in the best way. i spent weeks thinking i’d fall apart if we ever talked again, then realized i could hear his voice and still feel like myself.
i had to learn that no contact was something i needed, not a rule i had to follow forever. once i stopped using it to measure my healing, i could have a normal conversation without turning it into a sign that we should get back together.
this made me feel better about yesterday tbh. i was so scared to reach out cause i thought i'd spiral, but the convo was just normal and i was okay after,I didn't expect that
This gives me hope. Thanks for sharing.
you're welcome
i wish i never have to do this i miss him everyday
I know that feeling.... You don't have to be ready for it all at once. It really does get lighter, even when you can't imagine it right now
i feel like the “something important” part matters here. do you think you would’ve reached out if there wasn’t a real reason, or did having that reason make it feel safer to open that door?
Honestly, I probably wouldn't have.I think having a real reason made it feel safer to open that door without feeling like I was forcing a conversation.
youre right for being mature about it.
you’re brave to do that
Thankyou
wow
