I was at the gym today when I suddenly got a WhatsApp notification from him. He basically just said, “Sorry for texting you like this. I hope you’re doing okay,” and asked when my dad would be back in the city/apartment (that should've been ours) because he wants to get his things soon. That’s literally it.
The second I saw it, my whole body just went numb. I suddenly felt nothing and I have absolutely no idea how I’m supposed to respond.
I always thought that if I ever broke no contact and texted him, I’d send this huge message I’ve had sitting in my Notes for ages. I wanted to tell him that the way he treated me after the breakup, all the reposts, the things he said about me, etc. were not okay, and that he treated me badly in a lot of ways during the relationship too.
But now that he actually texted me, I don’t even know if i feel like sending any of that. Part of me just wants to not answer at all (but i have to lowk). I don’t know what's the right choice and if I’ll regret not saying everything I’ve been holding in.

that sudden stomach drop when their name pops up on your screen is genuinely awful. i had a huge paragraph saved in my notes for months after my ex walked out, but when he finally texted about getting his stuff, sending it just felt like giving him more of my energy that he didn't deserve
there any way your dad or a friend could handle handing off his stuff so you don't even have to see him in person?
Yeah my dad would be in the apartment while he gets his stuff. i just already know he won't like that because he specifically told me he doesn't wanna see anyone and just wanna walk into that place and pick out what is his. I'm just not comfortable with him doing that and eventually stealing my stuff too because he lost all my trust after the things he said and did shortly after breakup
It's best to not fuel any fire. Respond very briefly only to address the logistical needs of him getting his things. Basically, keep it as NC as possible while having to have contact.
