I used to call my wife baby Darling. on the way home from work today I said those words out loud. I don't know why... It's a hard habit to break. I used to do that all the time. I just say baby Darling baby Darling. and right now in this moment...I wish our marriage didn't fall apart.

can i ask, when you said “baby darling” today, did it bring back a specific memory of her, or was it more that awful feeling of reaching for someone who's no longer there?

those little habits hurt in a way i never expected. i used to call my ex the same pet name every single day, and months later it would still slip out before my brain caught up. god, i miss the life i thought we'd have too.

It's hard to let the nicknames and inside jokes go. I bet she misses you calling her baby darling. Thank nickname will always hold a special place in her heart and yours. It's okay to remember the good times. One day you find someone new to call your way home from work.
