does caring about whether they moved on and forgot about you ever go away?

sounds like what eats you is less about them being together and more about feeling replaced. it lingers because the story never got closure.

yes eventually. As time goes by, you will realise that a guy like him is not worth the effort and trouble. In some case (like me), I eventually letting him go and started to dislike everything he does and thinks. The thought of him moving on and don’t care about me doesn’t really bother me anymore. Maybe not now but you will stop care about him. it takes time and sometimes longer than you expected.
