for me the memories felt like old photos that kept sliding into view. i couldn’t stop them either. it softened over time, but in the beginning i just let them pass through me.

i thought moving on meant my head would finally shut up. it didn’t. his face still showed up everywhere, even in random songs at the store. pissed me off that i couldn’t control it.

quite honestly I think this may be the most tedious part. you can keep busy and overload yourself with new things, that would be the clishe answer here but the raw honest truth is that you need to be gentle with yourself. your brain will let go when it’s ready to.
