so we've been broken up for almost 3 months. I broke no contact a few times. one for a belated birthday message and another for a concert that we paid for before the breakup. Should I send his family a card sharing my condolences. I knew the dog and I used to spend time with him and his family a lot before the breakup.

it's ok to send the family the card
my ex's family dog passed a few months after our breakup and i sat there staring at a blank card wondering if it was about kindness or if i was secretly hoping for a reason to reach out.
I guess it depends on the motivation for sending it. Ask yourself what you are hoping for when sending it and your answer will be right there.
I think its ok to send the family a generic condolence card.
