Why can't i stop thinking about my long-distance ex?

Author

i have 1 month of the long distance narcissistic abuse relationship breakup with a Narcissist who manipulated me, emotionally abused me, used me for visa benefits, gaslighted me, etc. I have 17 days of No contact and since then i have these flashbacks, memories of this person and been feeling mentally exhausted , drained, overwhelmed, depressed, angry, etc.. I have trauma bond and its not easy. i now struggle with PTSD and it's hard. I need some support and someone to talk to bc almost every night or every day i'm struggling.

i know that trauma bond feeling. i spent weeks missing someone who treated me so badly, and that messed with my head even more. 17 days of no contact felt like forever for me too.

what you're describing sounds so exhausting.

what part has been the hardest these last few nights, the flashbacks, the loneliness, or the part of you that still misses them?

I so feel for you I was there still to an extent am my emotions are all over the place. But I have found everyday it gets a bit better you think of them less. so stick to nocontact it really does work.

That's awful. As someone who was also in a long distance relationship with someone who I am sure was also a narcissistic abuser, I emphasise. The blog post on here about that abuse cycle really opened my eyes to what I've lived through this last year. I am sorry you are struggling so badly and I hope you get the help you need. I'm always happy to chat if it helps.

You have come to the right place. It sounds rough. so you have a councillor or therapist who can guide you?
