How to cope as a single parent after a breakup

so my son turns 3 in a week time, ive spent every day with his dad for 6 years, we used to be so in love, but for a while now we've just been bickering, unhappy, ive been crying a lot feeling unloved and unwanted and hes been stressed feeling overwhelmed and wanting alone time all the time although we have a family, and we've both mutually decided to end it, but the pain is so hard, everyday im in a house we lived in together, everyday my son wants to talk to him, I can't just block him out like I would usually do, I just keep contact with him and my son only and end the call after its done, for my own sanity, this is just breaking me everyday and I have to be strong and not show im sad infront of my son and its just the hardest thing

my heart went straight to your son's birthday. have you and his dad talked about how you'll handle that day together, or is that part still up in the air?

we actually havent, and I know thats something we will have to cross, its so hard to get over someone who I have to see often, my sons too young to just let him go dad's alone, he has to be picked up, his dad will be attending birthdays and Christmas' and school meetings and stuff, so im struggling with knowing how to get over someone I cannot cut out

oh hun that is rough. do you have a village to help you with your son so you have time to release these emotions?

I dont have a village, I have nobody to look after my son, other than him, and he hasnt got a place to have him right now so him having him is just taking him to the park for a while, which yeah is a nice couple hours for me, but its still involving him, I just want part of my life where It doesn't involve him

@WhoCares679 yes I understand your situation is rough because you dont have that time to grieve the relationship it will be slow but once everything falls into place you will have the time and space to fall apart so you can start the rebuilding process

Im really sorry you are going through this with a young child. that must be really difficult. Have you got some support you can teach out to?

I mean I have family, but my family are just not very good at dealing with emotions, theyre very much "stop crying, get over it" kind, they love me I know but emotions and sadness isn't something I can talk to them about 😂

@WhoCares679 can you at least let them know you are struggling and get them to watch your son for a couple of nights so that you can at least cry and get it out and decompress for a moment?
