get a glass with water and take a straw and blow bubbles. I know it sounds weird but it helps both with your breathing, pulse and you get something visual too look at or just cry it out
Cry it out
you need to take up a hobby any hobby playing online games cleaning your house coloring painting anything that keeps your attention
long walks were the only thing that helped me
when the memories hit me, i stopped trying to argue with them and gave myself one tiny job instead, making tea, taking a shower, folding laundry, anything that kept my hands busy until the wave eased up.
avoid lying down if you are place both your feet on the ground and focus on standing drink some water. repeat a silly little mantra like “it’s going to be okay you got this”. cry if you have to but don’t lie in your bed. move your body walk around, lying down sitting will make the feeling worse.
has something happened today that brought all the memories rushing back, or did it just hit you out of nowhere?
i met him for lunch
i used to get that heavy chest too, like my body thought the breakup was happening all over again. the only thing that helped in those moments was getting up and changing rooms or stepping outside for five minutes, it broke the loop just enough
