Why can't we just make it work?

Me and my ex are still friends but this yesr we went back of broke op like three times, he likes me and loves me and he did a lot of things to prove it, live it's not the problem neither jelousy or things like that. The problem is that his way of showing love is not compatible with mine and the same with me, he is a man that cares a lot about his personal space and I'm a women who loves giving and reciving attention, I tried to give him his space a thousands of times but I feel he won't try to love me the way I need, for example he won't text me for days unless I text first or he won't make dates or cancel the ones I make... even if i try to love him the way he likes I feel I'm not enough for him to try and love me right

i eventually stopped trying to teach myself to need less just so the relationship could work, because i was exhausted from always being the one reaching out and making plans.

loving someone who genuinely loved me but still feeling lonely inside the relationship. i kept telling myself their effort should be enough because i knew they cared, but i was starving for the kind of affection that made me feel loved

i feel like the hardest part here is that he DOES love you, so what makes it so hard to accept that his way of loving you still leaves you hurting?

I agree with Dreamy. His actions are speaking quite loudly here. You said it yourself, you two have incompatible ways of showing and receiving love. While those things aren't hard coded and you could adjust them somewhat, you are going to run into difficulty getting him to put forth any effort if he can't put in effort in the here and now.

You know the answer, you just don't seem ready to face it. He doesn't seem like he is into you and trying to force something is going to drive you crazy. Protect yourself. Love yourself. It's easier said than done, but you can do it.

I think you have your answer but don't want to face it. If you are putting in all the effort - texting first, arranging dates, hes not that into you. Someone who appreciates you would put in the effort, he would want to know what you are up to, he would want to see you. Stop letting him be the lazy one and walk away

I was in the same situation and I realized if he wanted to he would and I walked away.
