Why i tried to fix things after the breakup

Author

After the breakup, I replayed so many memories. Especially, the moments when I made mistakes and was left with regret.

Relationships have a way of bringing our deepest wounds to the surface: fear, anxiety, worry, pain, and old trauma. Not everyone knows how to sit with these emotions.

If you are the one who is grieving while your former partner seems not to be, perhaps there is still something meaningful in your grief. You are learning to sit with emotions you may have spent years avoiding. And somewhere in that process, you begin to reconnect with the deepest parts of yourself.

Life without him is hard. But slowly, I am beginning to understand myself and why I reacted the way I did, what I was afraid of, and what parts of me were asking to be heard.

I am trying to heal not only from the pain this relationship left behind, but also from the pain that had been living inside me long before the relationship ever existed.

And perhaps that is one of the quiet gifts of no contact.

It doesn't immediately erase the love, the memories, or the questions.

But it gives you enough silence to stop trying to fix the relationship and finally start listening to yourself.

No contact can help you find the clarity you were searching for in someone else.

this hurt to read because i spent so much time trying to fix the relationship that i forgot to ask what was happening inside me. no contact gave me the quiet to finally stop chasing answers from someone who couldn’t give them.

yes ^^ actually true. mine also will never give the answer that I need. after NC, I can see the relationship in a bigger picture. I see my mistakes and his as well. I always thought I was the one who couldn’t accept him fully. I just realized he never even considered my side and point of view

you stopped trying to fix things, what did you start noticing about yourself that you hadn’t been able to see while you were still together?

I thought I couldn’t live without him, but I always can ^^ I realize holding into someone can create unhealthy relationships. I regret that a lot because I love him so much. But, I should forgive my part since he was contributing to our break up too ^^ I owed my part and apologized already and I think it’s enough

replaying every mistake like finding the exact thing i could’ve done differently would bring them back. that guilt had me stuck for so long.
