What i learned after being dumped: my checklist for love

What are things that you learned/looking forward to when looking for your next partner?

For me, I am hopeful to find my true soulmate :D

I know he exists because I exist.

Being dumped recently taught me a lot about what I truly desire in a partnership. It really shifted how I envision a future with a partner.

I have a huge checklist of things that I am looking for in my notes app :D

But the biggest thing is emotional repair during+after disagreements.

What about you?

the biggest thing i learned was to pay attention to how someone handles the small disagreements, because that showed me way more than the sweet moments ever did. i started looking for consistency and accountability instead of just chemistry.

The version of them that you meet first isn’t always them that is what I learnt and moving forward I will judge people based on how they are treating me not how they used to.

making a whole checklist after a breakup because suddenly you can see all the things you were missing before. emotional repair was a HUGE one for me too, i needed someone who could stay kind even when we were upset with each other.

i really love that you still believe your soulmate exists after being dumped, what made emotional repair become the biggest thing on your list?

I felt like when I raised my voice to express concern -- I was the only one to show up to the table to offer solutions and repair. It felt like I was the only one extending myself to solidify our emotional bond. A lot of times, instead of listening to understand, my ex would listen to defend. Then would belittle me or invalidate me. I find establishing boundaries and creating a safe space to discuss issues is key. But if those are disturbed, then remembering that we are a team against the problem is of utmost importance. Because it didnt feel like we were a team... it felt like I had to defend myself in a court room :(

I hope to find someone that has the same beliefs as me and is willing to fight for the relationship no matter what. Someone smart, responsible, and keeps his promises.

I want somebody who values honesty and integrity. someone who isn't afraid of having difficult conversations. One who constantly tries to work on themselves, not to change, but to be better

I really like this mindset! Personally, I’ve learned that I won’t let myself be treated the way I was again. I definitely don’t want an avoidant partner again, and I don’t want to end up parenting my partner either. I’ll always care and support someone, but I don’t want to carry that kind of emotional responsibility again.

I’m looking for someone who treats me with respect, doesn’t run away at every small inconvenience, gives the same effort I give, and respects my limits instead of pushing past them. Basically, someone who actually meets me halfway. I also totally agree on the emotional repair after disagreements. And tattoos + piercings would definitely be a bonus 🙂‍↕️✨️ haha
